INTRODUCTION OF MURUT

       The Murut settled in the interior and southeast of Sabah and the border area between Borneo and Sarawak. The Murut tribe is the third largest tribe in Sabah.The word 'Murut' refers to a group of people living on the hillside or highlands in the interior of Sabah. Muruts are found in several areas such as Keningau, Tenom, Pensiangan, Sipitang, Kalabakan, Beaufort and Kinabatangan. The Murut are divided into Murut Tahol or Tagal, Tidung or Tirong, Timugon, Sembakung, Paluan, Bookan, Kalabakan, Murut Serundung, Murut Agabag or Ahavah, Tentara or Tanggala, Kolor or Kolod or Akolod, Murut Nabai, Murut Gana or Hana and Murut Lundayeh [1] / Monk Lun.Currently, mummies already exist that serve the public sector in education, health and defense.

CUSTOMS

         There is a tradition of the Muruts who remain to this day the custom during the wedding ceremony. The wedding ceremony of the Murut especially Murut Tahol or Tagal is very unique because the wedding ceremony is practiced in full with the custom and takes place in the longhouse in a long time.The traditional Murut marriage is unique because the bride's family will always be helpful when faced with problems.Help given to the bride's family in terms of energy is, first when the death of the bride's family, the groom's family should help in terms of energy, finances, and property.The intended gift is counter-assistance, helping one another to help ease the burden of the problems incurred between the couple's family. This cooperation is always misinterpreted by some parties as "berian to die Murut"

TRUST

         They used to believe in animism, that every stone, tree, river, and hill had its own spirit. According to their belief, Aki Kopuno is the supernatural power that creates everything on earth, including people.Today, most Murut tribes are mostly Christian.


CLOTHES

FOR WOMEN

       Pinongkolo is a traditional outfit for women consisting of long black dresses and dresses, and decorated with beads. The decorated dress is called babaru linantian and the dress is but 'linantian.pipirot' is a silver-shaped belt of linggit pipirot decorated with a variety of famous beads like aki-aki, nampalur, kotos, bungkas, aki 'and olod. Salupai is a headdress decorated with beads.The whiskers are three sets of hair pins decorated with a doodle shutter in the center and two bikini robots on both sides of the bun. Sinikot pelan has a long rope and is decorated with beads. Rarangkol, chain consisting of several types of beads like end, motos, battery 'pangungupu', bulul, olod and so on.The last pod is used by some .Holong pairs bracelets made of shells of Sulo called pods.

FOR MEN 


The babarul puputul is Wood bark. The bark is obtained from puputul (Artocarpus Kunstleri). It is cut according to the length of the suit with the fashion of the sleeveless jacket and the wire. Coats of pineapple leaves are also used and decorated with simple handmade beads.The culprits are at least two meters long that is made of the bark of the puputul tree. The fabric that passes between the two legs and folds around the waist. Tupi'sinulatan is a head jewelry made of bark of a tree decorated with feathers preferably from the tofu (Argus Pheasant) or a pair of spiked.



                               

DANCE

The Murut community is also famous for its powerful "Warning Dance" and "Mangunatip Dance". Most of the ceremonies, these dances are commonly performed because the music is vibrant and sympathetic.Although some of these dance elements have been changed, the meaning and style of dance are still unaffected. Mangunatip dance for example showcases the element of pride that exist in Murut people and aims to persuade the spirits of their ancestors in order to keep them.The strings of the music from the leather drum and the somputon will control the dance.

CELEBRATION

Harvest Festival Day in Murut is "Orou Nantaan Nanantab". However, the real name of the festival after harvest for the Murut tribe is "Mansisia". Before the festival, each family donated rice from their perspective to the Community Head, the headmaster for cooking whether made tapai or rice.The official event of the festival is a tapai drink called "Pansysiaan". All villagers are required to drink the tapai as a custom tradition. In the Mansisia celebration all villagers can enjoy the harvest of each family as the previously donated rice is blended before cooking.The purpose of the celebration of the Mansisia is to be a day of thanksgiving and joy. The day is also considered a general public holiday for farmers. Usually these festivals are complemented by some interesting events such as cultural performances, drinking tapai and more in line with the celebration of the "Mansisia"
