BISAYA

The Bisaya are an indigenous people of the north-west and the coast line of Borneo, Malaysia. They mostly live near the Beaufort district, the Padas River  also Kuala penyu in the Sabah region. There are also some Bisaya living in Kampung Manunggang, Sabah, and along the Limbang River in the northern state Sarawak. Nowadays the Bisaya living in Sabah are mostly Muslim, with a smaller christian community, while the Bisaya living in Sarawak are mostly Christian, with a smaller Muslim community. The Bisaya people are also regarded as a relatives of the Dayak people whereas Bisaya was not brought into Borneo instead they are aboriginal of the land. In 1984, the estimate of 7,000 people in Sarawak was estimated at 22,000.

COSTUME

Traditional clothing that is commonly used everyday by teenagers and adults of the Bisaya men are long trousers that cover their feet. As his partner wore a long-sleeved shirt with round neck. The chest is split in three, without pockets. At certain moments these fittings are supplemented by a sarong cloth placed on the shoulders. While in formal occasions such as attending the custom ceremony the pants are replaced with sarongs. The colors used by the lighter, dominant teenagers are black.




TRUTH

According to the pagan beliefs of the ancient pagan cults, when the husband or wife dies then their spouse will participate in the way their mate's body is inserted into the trap or loop then the living and dead couple are measurated into the sea. After that, the handler would adore or summon the trap of raising back to the coast to meet with relatives or villagers to cure those who were ill at that time. the handler will read some spells and spells and one of these legends that can be read is as follows:


Iya Bamban Iya Lukah

Utak Bamban Iba Sari,

Main Dengan Sipar Muda,

Silukah Pandai Menari.

TRADISIONAL FOOD

Traditional foods in the most popular Bisaya community are Kelupis and Ambuyat. Ambuyat cakes are dishes that come from the sago palm interior. It is a watery bland material, such as cassava starch.Sarawak, Sabah, and the federal territory of Labuan, where it is sometimes known as linut. Ambuyat is eaten with a bamboo fork called chandas, by rolling the starch around the prongs and then dipping it into the sauce, of which there are many varieties. while Kelupis is a kind of cake made from glutinous rice and packed using iric leaves, a kind of leaf that is flat and long.

The Limbang community is known as a traditional music lover. Gong is available in every home. The traditional musical instruments for the Bisaya community are Gong, Dumbak, Violin, Sengkurong and Kalid, Agung, Kelentangan, Tawak, Bebandil and Terelet Bandil. All of these tools are played in fun roles or Babulang, Marriage, Birth Death and so on. There are 3 different types of songs that are played for entertainment or festivals ie Anding, Betiap
and Siram.
