SULUK
Suluk tribe or tausugs from Kepulauan Sulu and Borneo Sabah had been here since the rule of Sultanate of Sultan in parts of Sulu. The original religion is islamic religion.The celebrations celebrated by orang Suluk are eid mubarak and eid al-adha Orang Suluk does not call themselves tausug which literally carries the meaning of Orang Suluk. Some of them are decendents of Sulu Princess (Princess Dayang Dayang), who ran away from the Sulu Sultan who tried to marry her.
Suluk tribe can mainly be found in Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Kota Kinabalu, Kunat, Kudat and Semporna (north-eastern part of Sabah) Kuala Lumpur and Johor. Population of Sulukin our country is 209000 people. Suluk also has their unique culture and arts. Dance like for example pangalay dance ( daling daling dance ) and Mengiluk dance is well-known between the Suluk community. Female dancers wear elongated fingernails made from brass or silver known as janggay, and perform motions based on the Vidhyadhari (Bahasa Sūg: Bidadali) of pre-Islamic Buddhist legend .Suluk people have their traditional attires and costumes. Besides, their are aware that there are the importance of preserving the culture as culture is the sum of total of the learned behavior of a group. People that are generally considered to be the tradition of that people and are transmitted from generation to generation..
